Our Story
Long before Ocean Aquatica existed, I was a tropical fish collector in the Florida Keys. After witnessing firsthand how much the reefs were declining over time, I wanted to do something that would support the hobby but with minimal impact to the environment.
It became clear that if people were going to continue enjoying saltwater aquariums, there needed to be a better way, one that didn’t always rely on wild collection. That’s where the vision for Ocean Aquatic began.
What started with fragging a single coral as an attempt to keep a nanocube manageable grew into a full-scale aquaculture facility driven by quality, consistency, and a deep respect for the ocean. Since 2009, we’ve been farming corals in our state-certified facility in the Florida Keys to give people the joy of reefkeeping, without taking from the reefs themselves.
We don’t just care about being environmentally responsible; we care about doing things right. That means obsessing over the details: dialing in pH, designing custom plugs to support better growth, and giving each coral the time it needs to fully mature. After testing (and tossing out) dozens of systems, materials, and methods, we’ve dialed in on what actually works and what works best.
With decades of experience shipping delicate saltwater species, you can bet we’ve got the process down. From the first frag to the final box, we handle everything with precision, care, and a serious eye for quality.
Our mission is simple: make it easy for independent retailers to offer healthy, vibrant aquacultured corals that inspire curiosity, spark connection, and help protect wild ecosystems.
